It is pertinent therefore to note that useful suggestions on housing policy options to both the federal and state governments through National and International seminars, workshops and conferences organized by the Association gave birth to the FHA, FMBN, NBRRI and the National Housing Policy (NHP) and National Housing Fund (NHF). All these efforts were aimed at making decent housing accessible to all at affordable costs.
The AHCN instituted “The S.O. Fadahunsi (Housing) Foundation (SOFF) in honour of its pioneer President, Chief (Engr.) S.O. Fadahunsi, to promote research and development in the housing sector. The foundation has today become a frontier of knowledge that is re-orientating public attitudes and programmes on housing in favour of those that readily required to be housed.
The Association has organized five International Conferences on Housing and several national workshops, seminars and symposiums on housing matters and all these conferences recorded huge successes as they produced far-reaching policies and initiatives on housing finance, local building materials and construction costs, low income housing, cooperative societies and host of others that constituted diverse housing reforms and restructuring of the housing sub-sector witnessed till date in Nigeria.
